GRCC - 20th Anniversary.png

In 1967, a small but faithful group led by the late Bishop Robert I. and Mother Mable L. Thomas stepped out on faith to plant a new ministry in the heart of Corona, Queens. From a humble storefront on Northern Boulevard to the purchase of their first church building on 34th Avenue, the early Refuge Church of Christ was built on prayer, sacrifice, and the belief that God could do the impossible.

In 2007, that same spirit of faith and purpose led the church to its current home in South Ozone Park. Reestablished as Greater Refuge Church of Christ, the ministry has flourished over the past 20 years—expanding its vision, deepening its community impact, and carrying the legacy forward under the continued leadership of Pastor Robert I. Thomas Jr.

As we celebrate 60 years of legacy and 20 years of “GRCC”, we remember our history with gratitude, honor the saints who paved the way, and commit to building a future where the love of Jesus Christ reaches beyond our walls—spiritually, emotionally, and materially.
