The Early YEars
In the year of 1967 God moved on the heart of then Elder Robert I. and Sister Mable L. Thomas to start a ministry that would speak uniquely to men and women. Their unique teaching and preaching ministry has informed, delivered and set free people by helping them increase their faith in God.
What we Believe
The Gospel
The Good News that Jesus Christ saves us for our sins. He willingly died on a Cross, was buried, and rose again to redeem us back to Him. Our obedience to the Gospel is shown through our repentance (turning away from sin), baptism in water in Jesus’ Name, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. We are called to carry this message of love to everyone, everywhere. (Luke 19:10; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Mark 16:15)
The Bible
It is God’s Word, relevant for all people. It is both historically accurate and spiritually powerful. It reveals the way to God and the way to live. (2 Timothy 3:16)
God
There is one God, who reveals Himself to us as our Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. He was the Father in creation, He is the Son in redemption, and the Holy Spirit indwelling to the Church. All the fullness of God dwells in Jesus. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Colossians 2:9)
Sin & Salvation
Everyone makes mistakes. These mistakes are called sins and will lead to repercussions. We need salvation to avoid these repercussions. Salvation can only come through grace in Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-10)
Christian Living
The first and greatest commandment is to love God and love people. We should strive for this love of God and people to be displayed in all areas of our life and living. (Matthew 22:36-40)
The Christian Church was founded on the day of Pentecost when God’s spirit fell on the 120 in the Upper Room as they waited for the promise that Jesus had spoke to them that he would not leave them without a comforter.
Present Day
The Greater Refuge Church of the Apostolic Faith-South Ozone Park is a vibrant, Spirit-filled church with a passion to see people blessed, healed, delivered and saved from the sinful cares of the world.
We are a Family loving church that is filled with a wonderful mix of ages, cultures, gifts and talents. We are a people giving and walking by faith to see God's power extended to all those we can reach and touch with His love.
